Almaty's historic centre on foot: a half-day itinerary
This walk combines a working market, architecture and pedestrian streets. Travel from O2 to the centre, then walk between stops. Adapt the order to market hours and church services.

Directions from O2 ↗1. Green Bazaar
Start with the trading rows while you have time to browse and shop without rushing. Buy only what you can comfortably carry for the rest of the walk. Check opening hours before leaving.
2. Cathedral and park
Continue from the bazaar towards the Park of 28 Panfilov Guardsmen. Explore the cathedral's exterior and enter if appropriate. If a service is under way, change the order rather than making the whole walk depend on the interior.
3. Arbat and a break
Head from the park towards the pedestrian section of Zhibek Zholy. Allow time to rest and choose a café yourself. The places are linked below; use current walking directions for each connection.
Shorten or adapt the walk
For a shorter outing, keep just the bazaar, cathedral and park. Reduce outdoor sections in rain. Plan your return to O2 from the final stop; it may differ from the morning journey.
